• School Sponsoring

  Ipes sponsors school Nº 42 “Fray Justo Santa María de Oro”, in “La Vitícola” (5 km Hawai from Ipes)
  We contacted the school through a graduate and the school’s director Ms María Alcira Peralta.
  Ipes collaborates in maintaining and providing infrastructure supplies: installing gates, perimeter lighting, fixing the electrical installations.
  
  Ipes is also present on special occasions such as Children’s Day and gives away toys to the kids.

  Ipes promotes visits from schools and universities in the neighborhood interested in learning more about landfarming and landfill.
  
  

• Participating in the integral project “Batteries”
  
  

  Ipes and the Municipio de Bahía Blanca along with the Cooperativa Obrera (local supermarket network) participate in this project.
  
  It was started in October 1998 and the program is still very successful.  It includes:  collecting batteries (in containers located at the entrance of supermarkets), classifying, conditioning and final deposition in Ipes secure landfill. 

• Member of  “APELL process”
  
  

  APELL is the emergency awareness and preparation process designed by the United Nations to try to provide organized answers in the case of possible large scale technological accidents.
   
  After long studies, the United Nations, la Dirección General de Defensa Civil Bonaerense and Dirección Nacional de Defensa Civil nominated the city of Bahía Blanca (Buenos Aires province) as a test pilot city in order to apply the APELL process.  The process began to be developed in the area around the petrochemical pole in 1995 because of initiative from government officials in Bahia Blance, petrochemical company directors and community representatives.
